ARC Lab Research on Criminal History Featured by KETV

Research from the ARC Lab was recently featured by KETV NewsWatch 7, highlighting findings from a study published in Criminology by Zachary Hamilton, Alex Kigerl, Jennifer Tostlebe, and John Ursino.

Drawing on criminal charge records from more than 16 million individuals across five states, the study challenges the assumption that criminal history remains equally useful for predicting future offending over time. The findings demonstrate that the predictive value of prior charges declines substantially as time passes, with implications for risk assessment, criminal justice decision-making, and policies surrounding criminal records.

ARC Lab Co-Director Zachary Hamilton discussed the research and its implications with KETV.
